Since we had time to spend, we took a detour and stopped at the Oakland Temple - it's beautiful! It was also Sunday (which we totally forgot about) To the left is a church building, to the right (can't be seen) is the Visitor's Center.
Went to the Visitor's Center first and it was definitely the right place for us to be. It was empty other than a missionary couple and 2 sister missionaries - one Canadian and one from Korea. I left to change Ammon and came back to Jeff talking to a man and his wife in Spanish. All the Spanish Elders were in church and neither of the sisters or the couple spoke Spanish. Jeff stepped in and helped out, gave them a referral card for the Spanish missionaries and got him a copy of the Book of Mormon.
It was neat to see him interact as a missionary - would have been fun to see him as a 19 year old missionary. :)
Talking about prophets
Jeff thought it was really cute how she was teaching the kids, too bad she looked up right as he took the picture. haha! She had been out of the MTC for 3 days!! We followed a program they had set up there - something about the life of a family, starting at birth, through the resurrection and finally about Christ. I have seen it at the Mesa Visitor's Center.
It was a good reminder of how precious life is and how wonderful it is to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). That we can be together, FOREVER if we follow God's plan for us.
The view from this side of the Visitors Center is AMAZING!
honestly?!
I love this picture! For two reasons though - it's a beautiful shot of the Temple, but it's also funny of Lucas......did you even see him there?? He and Lea got in trouble for fighting over pushing the stroller. He chose this quiet spot to pout. :)
Ammo was less than thrilled to be in a picture by himself.
I love to visit the Temples and feel the peace on the Temple grounds. I love the joy, happiness, and sometimes sorrow, but always back to joy as we follow the Lord's plan. Families are essential to His plan. We love our families and we love to see the Temple.

The Oakland temple is tied with the Mesa temple as my all-time favorite. I served my mission in Oakland, and the mission home is just across the street from the temple entrance. Because I served in the Cambodian branch for my entire two years, the interstake center (at the temple) was my church building. As missionaries, we were able to serve in the temple on a monthly basis with our branch. Truly a beautiful and special place. Thanks for sharing your experience!
First photo is my favorite - awesome setup with the flowers in the foreground. Cute kiddos!
