Teacher Appreciation

Lea wrote a card to her teacher Mrs. Noyes for Teacher Appreciation week. She had asked the students to not bring gifts - homemade cards were most appreciated and put into a scrapbook. Great teacher huh!

Lea's card read something like this (I wish I had taken a picture of it so you could see the handwriting and spelling):
Dear Mrs. Noyes,
Thank you for teaching me math, reading and the Galileo Testing. I wish we could do more, but we're all done.
Thank you for being my teacher.
Your student, Lea

Parent's note: Galileo testing is the benchmark testing the school district uses to see how much the kids are learning over the year. They take the test 4 times and it covers all curriculum for the whole year on every test. Lea's class has done EXCEPTIONALLY well - her test score from the final test of the year:

100% - Reading
93.3%  - Math

Congrats Lea - we are so proud of you! Love you!

What happens while camping doesn't stay at the campsite.......

Went to the park today around 11:30. We were waiting for Beckers to come and Lucas asked:
"Mom, where's a bush for me to go potty on?"
Ummmmmmmm, over there I guess - we're only a block from our house, but I'm not walking back.
I heard this too: "Mom - it (the pee) went right through the bush!"
minute later: "Mom! Do you have any hand sabitizer?"
"No.....wasn't planning on the potty break."

Later tonight, Lea informed us (Jeff and I) that Lucas peed in the backyard by the swingset........not a big deal except we have a VIEW fence which is right behind the swingset. Also he hasn't mastered the "Peeing Outside etiquette": shorts are at the ankles..............*sigh*

I think we've had enough camping for now.

What?!

This was too good not to post: Jeff and Lucas went on a campout this weekend with our Stake for church. Just the men and they went to the Mogollon Rim outside Heber, AZ. After they'd been home a while, I told Lucas he needed to take a shower because he smelled like campfire and dirt. While in the shower, I hear him yell this:

"DAD! I'm taking a shower cuz I smell like camp-pire, dirt and spit!"

And because there is apparently no privacy in our house, we were all in the next room to which Jeff proudly says: "I couldn't be more proud of my boy. I didn't even have to teach him - he came up with it all on his own."

Why he smelled like spit.......I don't know and I don't want to know. :)

I love it when....

my kids surprise me. Today has been a long day and I haven't had them with me. Erin watched them while I was at the church setting up an activity for Relief Society tonight. Brought the kids home and asked Lucas a very simple question - usually insights much tears and freaking out even over the simplest things for two reasons: 1: HUNGRY and 2: TIRED. I asked him to go use the bathroom and wash his hands and face.
He sits down on the floor and half yelled: "But I don't want to do those things, I just want to go to BED!"
Okay fine......go to bed then. :)
A few minutes later: "Mom, will you come tuck me in?"
Sure - haven't heard a peep from him since. Love this kid! :)

As the second kid, I'm realizing now I have very few pictures of Lucas by himself - need to work on that.

Do you know the Cupcake maker?!

This morning when Jeff was heading out to work, he found a plate of yummy brownies and card for me on the porch. (Luckily Jeff uses the front door now to get to his car or we may have never found the treats!) He told Lucas to come tell me there were brownies for me. Lucas comes RUNNING down the hall to my room. "Mom! There's cupcakes at the door!" Of course I already knew because he was "talking" about it by the front door - you'd be surprised how far his little voice carries.......
Me: "Really? Cupcakes?"
L: "Yes!!"
Me: "That's awesome - who brought em?"
L: "I don't know - the cupcake maker!?"
Ahhhhh, the infamous cupcake maker who leaves treats on your doorstep - Lucas' new best friend and fav neighbor Candace "the Cupcake Maker"  :)

Not your ordinary Breakfast

Jeff normally gives the kids breakfast before he heads for work - a baggie of cereal which they are perfectly happy to munch on while watching Disney. Normally I sleep in until the very last minute to get Lea ready and myself dressed enough to go to school. But today I needed to help Lea with her homework before school. I went to the kitchen to find Jeff dishing up 2-day old cookies still on the pan, pop-tarts and a baggie of fruit loops - Breakfast of Champions! Love you dear!

Also if you ever call me and just announce you're looking for a new job without a backup plan the day before my birthday, 6 months pregnant, I'll fire you myself!! :) So if you know of any good accounting positions opening in your area, send them our way - we are in the market for something new.
