Do you have what it takes??

To pack a family of 6 for 4 different vacation destinations, entertainment for 24 hours in a car, movies, toys, books, to ride in comfort (pillows, blankets), semi-comfort if you're in a 5 point harness, to pack the car in 110 degree heat inside the garage because it's 'cooler', and still be able to see out the back window?? Only to realize you have everything packed to drive to your husband's office because he's working until the very moment you leave and discover the battery in the van is dead for the 2nd time in one day.........yeah, I almost didn't make it either. :) Luckily our first stop was only in Vegas for the night then on to Tahoe the next day.
I got bit by the Martha Stewart craft bug and made these really cute bags - the kids picked out their own fabric and I went to work. To which they promptly filled them with all their greatest treasures.
Seat-belt pillows to the rescue for those floppy heads and hard to maneuver full size pillows - which we took, but they were in the back. Again they picked out their own fabric - I love them!
Here's part of the packing which included a bin of baby girl clothes for my nephew and his wife that just had a baby girl.......I was so happy to get rid of that thing!

Luckily my neighbor was home from working nights and was able to jump the van and I had parked it backwards to it was easy to get to the battery. That was after the morning volleyball when we went to the parking lot and it was dead - thanks to Sarah for not leaving us behind in the parking lot. Always wait for everyone to go at the same time! Drove to pick up Jeff, afraid to turn the car off, we picked him up and went to O'Reilly's to get a new battery - free swap - it was awesome, just the free part, the part where we sat outside in the sweltering heat while Jeff changed the battery was less than sweet. Alas, a tender mercy that it happened before we left and not somewhere in the middle of Nowhere, NV.
