A road to nowhere but crazy

So every year we go through this: LOTS of rain, someone somewhere decides to let water flow to the usually dry Salt River and we get to make an extended drive around the only street to exit Laveen. Some day there is supposed to be a bridge built - I've actually seen a flyer in the mail announcing it. However, this is how the City works: dry road, river flooded, fix said dry road because of water damage, tear up said dry and newly repaired road to build a bridge......does anyone else think that is completely dumb?!

Anywho, since Beckers are big into throwing rocks, they decided to go to the river and throw rocks there instead of their neighbors pool over a brick wall. We gladly agreed to join them and burn some energy.
Rule #1 and the only rule (before getting out of the car): DO NOT GET IN THE WATER! Daddy does not want to go swimming.
It sort of smelled like the Columbia River - dirty water and dead fish. If you've ever smelled the Columbia, you know what I mean, but it wasn't as nice and I definitely wouldn't ski in the Salt River - it's more of a LARGE water hazard.

RULE #2: this was quickly added as the rock throwing began
2A: DO NOT THROW ROCKS AT PEOPLE
2B: WATCH OUT!

"Hey Jeff, I bet I can make it half way."
"No you can't."
"Well I give you 10 bucks if you can beat me...."
Or something smart like that was being discussed by the Jeff/Geoff party.

Rock throwing for distance: who do you think won?!

Stole this from Erin's blog - yes her picture is way better than mine.
Reason for rule #2B. Lucas stood up right as Abbey was throwing that rather large rock in her hand. She has quite an arm for such a little girl.

How fun! Blaine and I were wondering if people ever go tubing down there. But now you answered my question... it stinks.. so I don't think anyone goes in there.

Awesome! Miss the stinky Columbia River! Love how athletic your cute family is...if only I could have passed on some coordination onto to Dani. Poor thing pretty much can climb up walls, but the coordination thing isn't really up her ally!
