He loves to wear his hat. On occasion he turns it around and looks very gangster-ish. He did this while driving around to stores with me. I saw him in the rearview mirror and said: "What up yo?"
"I'm not yo, I'm Wucas" (haven't learned to pronounce the L's yet)
He turned his hat around right, then backwards again with "I'm yo again."

Conversation from the back of the van....
There was some I missed, but this is what I heard today:
Lea: "They're all naked"
Lucas: "They're all naked?!"
Lea: "Yes, they're all naked."
(At this point, I'm desparately looking around trying to figure out what they are talking about. We're on a road - Lower Buckeye leaving Target - houses on the right and a big empty field to the left. We're approaching a 4-way stop where vendors are selling misc things on the corner. Still can't see what are naked.....)
Lea proceeds: "They don't have any leaves so they're all naked."
Lucas: "No leaves - ohhhhhh. Naked."
(okay no leaves, still naked, what the heck!?)
I look up to see a row of trees on the left side of the road - naked - no leaves at all. whew! So glad we weren't in Vegas.......so not looking forward to the drive through there now that Lea can read.....

Lea-ism
She's getting to smart for me.....
Lea and her friend Brynn were trying to find something to do. It's hard to play when all the toys are in rooms of sleeping kids. So I was suggesting things to do: swing, play ball, sidewalk chalk, take some blocks out to the patio - anything outside as to keep the others asleep as long as possible.
To my suggestions I got this reply: "Those are all great ideas, but we don't want to do any of them right now."
Okay then......

Lea-ism
Last night as Lea was going to bed, she was coughing really bad. Her asthma gets the best of her sometimes. Anyway, she had finished her treatment and I was leaving the room. She said in the most tired, sad, I don't feel good sort of voice...."Mom, I think I don't feel very good. Can I stay in my room all day tomorrow because I don't want anyone to touch me?"
Me: Ummmmm, (YEAH, HOORAY!!!, WAHOO!!!!!!) sure. You might have to stay in my room because Abbey needs to nap. (she starts out asleep in our room so she and Abbey can get to sleep- they share a room).
Lea: okay, night mom.
Me: Night Lea (laughing to myself back to the living room)

Happy birthday to Lucas!
A little tribute to a sweet little boy. Yeah - 3 years old!! I really can't believe he's already 3!? He's been so excited for the past couple months and has really come to enjoy birthday parties. He walks around the house singing "Happy birthday to mom, happy birthdy to mommy..." He talks very excitedly and LOUDLY about his birthday party at Chuck E Cheese, where we're going to eat pizza, ice cream and play games. I finally have him convinced we're having a pirate party at our house. He's still very excited and loves to be a pirate - arrrrr, matey!!
Anywho, back to the beginning of Lucas - he was born after we moved to Laveen and has been daddy's buddy since before he was born. Jeff was so happy to have a boy although nervous....well if you know Jeff, then you know why he was nervous - crazy, adventurous, no fear and more crazy.....yikes! Since we had just moved to the area, we didn't have any friends, well none that I was willing to ask to watch Lea for 4-5 days (still have very few after 3 years...) :) My sister Kristin offered to keep Lea for us during our hospital stay. Lucas was a scheduled c-section because he was transverse (sideways) most of the time and constantly moving. My doctor always had a hard time figuring out what position he was in and where the heart beat was from appt to appt... Already stubborn...

A few before shots - Lucas' foot and profile - can you see it?! 1/26/06
Jeff and Lucas minutes after he was born. The drug doctor offered to take a picture for him. Apparently he wasn't busy...... :) 6/10/06
Kristin brought Lea to the hospital after we had been moved from the recovery room. We had a shared room until a private room opened up a few minutes later. Very crowded and very grateful to have a private room. First comment from the nurse when we told her the names of our kids (Lea and Lucas) and first of many - "Oh you must be Star Wars fans." Um, no, but thanks for quickly ruining the moment for me. :)
Blessing Day:
A few note worthy moments: Lucas' is wearing Jeff's blessing outift. He (Lucas) wet his diaper and it soaked through the outfit onto my brother's hand - darn Huggies diapers. :)
Left to right: Steven (brother), Jeff, Lucas, Jonathan (brother-in-law), my dad and Bishop Porter (today is known to Lucas as "Coach" - he was Lea's soccer coach this past Feb.) Thank you so much for coming!

About 3 weeks after Lucas was born, we went on our summer vacation - this is one of my favorite pictures. A 4 generation Risenmay photo. Jeff, his dad, grandpa and Lucas.

Age 1 - first tube ride at Twin Lakes! Thrilled - don't worry the fear is gone now. :)
2 year old pictures
Age 3: 6/5/09 - 5 days before he turns 3, the potty chart is completely filled in and he has earned a bike!! He's completely potty trained!

Lucas was born with red hair (this was the first thing the doctors and nurses noticed) weighing in a whopping 7.0lbs 19inches. He is ALL BOY. He's as cute as can be and very sweet. He loves hugs, kisses and making his sisters laugh. He loves to run with the big boys, yet he'll play dress up and kitchen with his sisters. He is quite the social butterfly and says "hi" to anyone and everyone no matter the place. Embarassing for me the non-social one...he loves people and loves his grandpas. He's always talking about Jampa Joensen's (Grandpa Sorensen - my dad) boat and chatting with them on his play phones. Lucas is a blast to be around - there is never a dull moment when he's awake - and sometimes even when he's asleep he provides entertainment. :) He's busy, busy, busy, but has always been a great sleeper - well deserved after the energy he uses all day! We love you Lucas!!

Can't find the pictures of his first birthday (we've had at least 4 computers since then), but we woke him up for the party and he wasn't happy. He did use a fork to eat his "smash" cake with. This is the week after his 1st birthday on our Risenmay reunion to Rocky Point, Mexico - fabulous trip!

Jeff bought him a basketball hoop for his birthday and he loves it - he and Lea will play for what seems like hours and even friends enjoy playing too! Best $5 ever spent!! :) age 2
Stay tuned for more pictures of the birthday and party! :) Happy birthday Luke!!
