PTO/Site Council

Getting WAY out of my comfort zone and going to the PTO/site council meeting for Lea's school.
Parents and teachers are not getting the voice they need - time to be more involved and hopefully help to.....
MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

I'm happy she has had terrific teachers, but when did it become all learn and no play.......she's in school for 7 hours, 7  HOURS a day.....with about 20 minutes of free time outside.
Her class would take a classroom bathroom break and then return to class - a small break for the kids and teacher.
Lea tells me on Monday: #1: they are no longer allowed to use the restroom - they must go before school and during those 20 minutes for lunch/recess.......according to the administration. Teachers, parents and kids DO NOT AGREE.
Apparently time for the class bathroom break was a gross (excuse the pun. :)) misuse of school time.

#2: They have no other items to play with at recess except the play structure and about 600 square feet of grass and cement.........................how BORING is that!? And the only other recess is being removed from the school day. They only get the 20 minutes at lunch time.

If you want to be more productive with the kids during the day, give them a break - she's in 2nd grade and will be in school until she graduates from college - let's not ruin her love for school in 2nd grade. I bet a break would improve their test scores=$$ for the school. Figure it out people!!!! People who are in charge and think they can do whatever they want without help from the teachers and parents.........so get involved and make school what it's supposed to be for: Teaching and learning, not politics and money.

The new digs

8:07 am 8/11/10 - Ammon Earl is born - my fav picture is the one of us, then you can see the doctors hard at work on me. The resident anesthesiologist is also a photographer when he's not at the hospital....haha - funny guy. :)

Aunt Kristin came to help and brought 3 helpers too! :)

So I only made it to newborn/hospital pictures - I'm saving you faithful reader(s) from picture overload.

Nieces

My nieces came to help out about week 4 after Ammon was born - they showed up 20 minutes after Grandma Judy left - thank you!!! Shayla came when Abbey was born and hung out with us, drove us around and took care of my kids while I slept - I was more than happy to have her come back!! :) This time she brought Marissa who had just graduated from high school and was currently not doing ANYTHING. They were so very helpful and I hope to return the favor some day - love you girls!

Shayla & Abbey

Marissa spent a lot of time in this chair or the couch holding Ammon or warding off other small children who wanted to use her SUPER COOL phone. Which was great because I didn't want to go anywhere either!

Noone can resist a nap with a sleeping baby. We also make good use of the pacifier.
A beautiful day to spend outside creating fun artwork.

They stayed up late, played games and listened to a random hodge podge of music - apparently us married folk went to bed too early  (10 pm.....sheesh, when did I get so old!?)

And cookies, they made lots of yummy cookies!

Marissa also spent most of her time attached to the phone on the side of her head on in her hands - I made her put it down for a quick pic. Doesn't she look much better without the phone head??

I'm the best!! hehe

My email to Jeff: (and since Jeff never reads our blog - here's my secret: my homepage for my browser was covered in information about the game, I didn't remember on my own........haha!)

Did you record the game tonight? Do you know what time it starts and what channel it might be on?

Going to the dentist in about 40 minutes....well dropping the kids off at Bundys and then going to the dentist.... can't wait. :)

Jeff's response:
I have the game set to record.
Thanks for remembering Opening day of football.
I think I might cry!  You’re the best :)

Good luck at the dentist.  Give me a call with the results.

Going to the dentist

After 5 years, it's time to head back and just in time. Yesterday a small piece of my tooth broke off (leaving a hole in my tooth) while I was chewing gum.....The last time I went to the dentist was for a root canal and post/crown to be put in. Nips are not a favorable candy of mine anymore..... I think this time around, my teeth took a beating from all the ice I consumed during the last 4 months of pregnancy. So good times I get to go back - hoping for a quick fix and no root canal this time around. BTW - I'm a horrible patient for dentists and eye doctors......sorry I just am, hate going to both of them.

First day of Preschool

It's only fair that Lucas get his moment of the first day of school. :) Starting pre-K with Miss Janna at Happy Meadows Preschool. He loves going and is happy to go as long as he can wear his big pants, cool shirt and BYU hat - shoes and socks are a must as well. He does not believe in wearing shorts or sandals......despite my protest every day to get him to wear those items. Lucas wants to be just like his dad who gets to wear pants, shoes and socks every day. Whatever, I give up - I'm just glad he loves school and loves to learn. :)

Grandma Judy's car - she was here on baby Ammon duty. :)
Big brudder and lil' sis Abbey
(Miss Janna.....why did you tell my mom to take more pictures......!?)
