Me, me, me! :)

For those not in the Facebook world - I originally posted this there. Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits or goals about you. These are about me - Alison. Stay tuned for Jeff's list. :)

1. I'm the baby of my family and I love it! 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
2. I was an aunt for the first time at the age of 7. I remember taking my nephew to 1st grade for show-n-tell.
3. I lived in the same house until I went to college - my parents still live in that house.
4. I've had 4 surgeries in the same spot. Once when I was 7ish and 3 more in the past 6 years.
5. I've never broken a bone.
6. I knew 2 of my brother-in-laws long before I ever met Jeff.
7. I love to play sports and am very VERY competitive. (Bowling is my secret talent - I can even beat Jeff)
8. I'm not a dare devil - I'm afraid of heights.
9. I don't like new places or environments.
10. Large groups make me very uncomfortable and I only talk to people I know very well. Not exactly what you would call a social butterfly.
11. Have been called snobby or stuck-up because of #10.
12. I prefer to be at home - are we seeing a pattern here?
13. Animals make me nervous - horses, cows, dogs, rabbits, etc.
14. I won my class Spelling Bee in elementary school - not sure which grade (3rd or 4th), but was able to compete for the grade level in front of the whole school.
15. I know just as much and sometimes more than Jeff about football - NFL, college, player stats, etc. I've watched more football games in my life than I care to count. From Gridkids to college I watched my brothers play everywhere.
16. I have an autographed picture of Ty Detmer's (BYU quarterback) Heisman photo and met him in person to get it.
17. I can fall asleep in 20 minutes or less in the car no matter where we're going. I don't drive very much on our long trips and if I can make it an hour, it's a proud moment. :) Jeff does all the driving.
18. I like to watch "nerd" tv: Numb3rs is one of our favorite shows.
19. I have a major sweet tooth - favs are Reeses peanut butter cups and snickers - especially the snickers ice cream bars......yum! Also a big Dr. Pepper fan.
20. I don't like to try new things at restaurants - I have my favs and stick with those.
21. I taught preschool one year for Lea and 2 of her friends.
22. I learned to water-ski at a young age and hated it - I now enjoy it.
23. I have two kids named Lea and Luke (Lucas) and NO I don't like Star Wars. We moved away from the L names and the Star Wars theme for #3 - Abbey.
24. I currently own 9 pairs of shoes - until Christmas I only had 7.
25. I love my family and I love my life.

Luke-inese

It's the official language of Lucas. Only a select few can actually understand it, let alone speak it.

Sunday morning (we have 1 o'clock church), I was helping Lea take a bath and enters Lucas with this piece of advice. "Wea, no going potty in da baf". He's been told this several times.

A little bit later after she was dressed for church and had combed her hair herself (it looked cute). "ooo, Wea you wook so priddy".

Famous words occurring during "nap" time. "Mah (my) poopie." and then he proceeds to turn around so you can check the diaper.....

What a sweet boy! :) Do you speak Luke-inese?!

Soccer days

Lea started soccer and well it's been less than uneventful. Last year I mentioned she could play soccer after t-ball was over and it brought on much tears and "I don't want to play soccer". Well, she was a little more excited the closer signups came for soccer and the idea of having more pink sports equipment - poor Lucas with all those girlie hand-me-downs.... :) She was especially happy to know her friend Brisa was going to play and wanted to play on the same team. So off we went to our first practice with Coach Jeff (this one is Brisa's dad and Bishop of our last ward) and Alexis as the assistant coach. Well, that was fun and she had a great time being a "truck", "revving her engines" and follow the FUNdamentals that Jeff had prepared for them. Practice #2 was great as well. Team name: Greased Lightning and Coach Jeff calls the kids Lightning Bolts.

Running laps - Ethan (in the blue) played t-ball with Lea.

Then came Saturday - game day...... Not so happy Lea showed up and refused to get ready or even get out of the car at the game. After much tears, bribing, threatening by me and Jeff (the occasional threat from Lucas repeating us), she finally got out of the car and we made it to the field. We'd already missed the first 10 mintues (which is one period). They play 3 - 10 minute periods of 4 on 4.

She refused to play, go near the team, or put on her shinguards and new uniform. Ironically her shirt says JOY. :)
And don't think I'm so horrible for taking pictures. Don't you look back on difficult days and wish you'd taken pictures to remember and share the memories? I do. I wish I had taken Lea's picture when we were "enjoying" head lice - although that memory is burned in our brains for a very long time - lesson learned. :) We finally got her in the uniform and turned her over to Coach Jeff - we were out of patience and Coach Jeff has so much more.... thank you!!! :)
She's at least on the field - although not too interested in moving....

We're moving and may even crack a smile. We'll see.
NOPE. Not so much. She was running and randomly looked our way and this was the face we got as she ran off the field. Lea informed me she hit heads with another player.
After a brief pep-talk from daddy Jeff, she went back and had a great time. Luckily our friends were there to cheer her and that was way better than her parents cheering her on. :) She loves Miss Becky (former preschool teacher) and Miss Erin (Ethan's mom). She glared at Coach Geoff (Ethan's dad) for trying to make her smile.

Ethan just scored a goal and Lea is all smiles too.

Worn out from running all over the field. YEAH! She was so happy after the game - had treats and was loving soccer!!!!

Lea-isms

Last night Lea woke up around 11 and Jeff (being so tightly whipped), let her stay up and snuggle next to him on the couch. They were discussing random things and up came the topic of bacon. Jeff teases Lea that she loves bacon, smells like bacon, etc (Jeff loves bacon so it's not a bad thing to smell like bacon). Anyway, Lea said "I like bacon." Jeff - "oh really?"
"Yeah, before I didn't like bacon. I was fakin' bacon." :) "I didn't like bacon when I was 3." (A lot of things happened when she was 3.....)

Happy New Year! - pictures added

Happy New Year! We had a short party New Year's eve, put the kids to bed early (we celebrated on NY time) and watched movies until 2 am. I wasn't sure we could make it, but we did! Wahoo! :) Why is it when I want to stay up, I can't. And when I'd like to go to bed early, I find myself procrastinating by browsing blogs and facebook....... oh well. Here's to 2009! :)
